Portland's High-End Residential Arborist

Portland's oldest neighborhoods are defined by their trees — and those trees deserve more than a saw and a bucket truck. ArborPro has spent more than 30 years caring for the mature specimens, heritage oaks, and complex canopies that define Portland's most established neighborhoods.

“They Are Experts ”

“First time to use ArborPro Tree Experts. They were on time and worked efficiently. Nice crew, personable, and friendly. And they are experts in cleanup. Our front yard looks like new with a beautifully trimmed tree. Will definitely use ArborPro again.”

Our Certifications

We're proud of the many certifications and qualifications our team of experienced arborists has earned. Why? Because it means our customers receive the best possible care for their trees.

Our Portland Tree Services

Every tree on your property has a role — shade, privacy, curb appeal, stormwater management, habitat, or family memory. Our services are built around protecting those roles over the long term.

Structural and Ornamental Tree Pruning

This is the work we're known for. Mature-tree pruning done to ANSI A300 standards by climbers who understand how to prune for structure, health, and appearance — not just to "clean it up." Especially suited to Portland's mature oaks, maples, elms, and other large deciduous trees.

Tree Preservation

Construction projects, drainage changes, and root-zone disturbance kill more mature Portland trees than storms do. We work with homeowners, landscape architects, and builders to protect trees before, during, and after construction — including soil health, fertilization, and pest and disease monitoring for trees under stress.

Consulting Arborist Services

From pre-purchase tree assessments and risk evaluations to second opinions on removal recommendations, our consulting arborist services provide clarity when it matters most. We also offer expert witness and legal consulting, delivering clear, objective answers backed by ISA Certified Arborist expertise.

Tree
Removal

When a tree truly needs to come down, precision matters more than speed — especially on tight Portland lots, over-the-house work in the West Hills, or anywhere there’s no margin for error. We plan each removal carefully, using the right equipment and approach to protect surrounding structures and complete the job safely.

Emergency
Tree Service

When a tree is damaged or destabilized, the situation can change quickly — especially around structures, driveways, or high-use areas. We respond with the right crew and equipment to assess the risk, secure the site, and handle the work safely from start to finish.

Learn More

Tree Permits

Portland has some of the most detailed tree code in the region — Title 11, Heritage Tree protections, and preservation requirements during construction all come into play. We know the rules, handle permit research and applications as part of our process and can tell you what your project requires before you start.

What Makes ArborPro the Right Portland Arborist for Your Property

Every project we take on is shaped by the same commitments — to long-term tree health, skilled execution, and honest recommendations. Here's how that shows up in our work:

10 ISA Certified Arborists on Staff

One of the largest Certified Arborist teams of any tree care company in the Portland Metro area — and the reason we can send a credentialed arborist to every estimate, not a salesperson or a crew lead.

ISA TRAQ-Qualified Risk Assessments

Tree Risk Assessment Qualification is the industry standard for evaluating hazard potential. When we assess a tree, it's against that standard — not a guess.

City of Portland Preferred Tree Care Provider

ArborPro is listed among the City of Portland's Preferred Tree Care Providers — a designation that reflects documented expertise, proper licensing, and a track record of professional work.

A Specialization, Not a Service List

Our focus is complex residential work: structural pruning of mature deciduous trees, preservation of specimen trees during construction, and comprehensive multi-tree property planning — projects that reward careful planning and skilled execution.

Drone-Assisted Canopy Inspection

For large trees, we can document canopy condition from angles no ground inspection can reach. That matters when you're making a five-figure decision about a 100-year-old tree.

Detailed, Written Proposals — Every Time

You'll see exactly what we recommend, why we recommend it, and what it's meant to accomplish. Not a lump-sum quote, not a back-of-the-envelope number, not a verbal handshake. If you're comparing tree care companies in Portland, we'll help you ask the right questions.

30+ Years on Portland's Most Established Properties

Since 1993, we've been the arborists Portland homeowners call back — for the next pruning cycle, the next property, and the next generation of trees.

Will Definitely Use Them Again for Future Tree Care

“I had five trees in desperate need of pruning. ArborPro did a fantastic job from start to finish. Exceeded my expectations. The crew was very friendly and professional; I highly recommend ArborPro for your tree care needs and I will definitely use them again for any future tree care.”

What We Love About Caring for Portland's Trees

Portland is a city shaped by its trees. Caring for them is what we do — and what we've done since 1993.

A few things we love about this place:

Four Million Trees Across the City: Portland's urban forest includes roughly 243,000 street trees, 1.2 million park trees, and 2.9 million on private properties — a mix of native Douglas fir, mature deciduous canopies, and ornamentals from every corner of the horticultural world.

One of the Country's Most Extensive Heritage Tree Programs: Since 1993, Portland has designated more than 300 trees as Heritage Trees — protected by City Code and requiring permits for any pruning or removal. Many of the neighborhoods we serve have them.

A 29.8% Canopy: This is actually even higher in the neighborhoods we serve. Citywide canopy may sit around 29.8%, but west-side neighborhoods reach 56% — some of the most heavily canopied residential streets on the West Coast.

Trees That Pre-Date the City Itself: Some of Portland's oaks, firs, and sequoias have been standing since before Portland was incorporated. Caring for a 150-year-old tree isn't routine maintenance — it's stewardship.

Neighborhoods Built Around Their Canopies: Laurelhurst, Irvington, Eastmoreland, the West Hills — these neighborhoods were platted around their trees, and the trees are still here. We're proud to help keep them that way.

A City That Takes Tree Protection Seriously: With Title 11, Heritage Tree protections, and strict construction regulations, Portland requires more than basic tree work. It takes real expertise — and it’s something we navigate every day for our clients.

Where We Provide Tree Services in the Portland Metro Area

Some of the neighborhoods where we do the most work include:

  • Dunthorpe: Long-term care for mature specimen trees on estate-sized wooded lots
  • Southwest Hills: Complex crown reduction, pruning, and access on steep-slope properties
  • Laurelhurst: Structural and ornamental pruning for century-old residential canopies
  • Irvington: Careful pruning of the mature oaks, maples, and elms that define the neighborhood

We also serve homeowners throughout Portland's other established neighborhoods — including the Alameda Ridge, Eastmoreland, Mount Tabor, Forest Park edge, and Willamette Heights areas. If your property has mature trees worth protecting, ArborPro Tree Experts is the tree service to call.
